Lights, Camera, Action.

No, this is not a movie set…it is the action taken to find out what is going on with your sewage system.  Not quite as romantic is it?  What is a video sewer inspection?  To inspect the pipes and find possible problems, a special sewer video camera head connected to a flexible cable is inserted into the main sewer line cleanout, and snaked through the pipes.

While it is an important tool in a leak location test, a sewer camera by itself cannot be used to determine if you have a leak.  Since the camera is inside the pipe, it cannot see the outside of the pipe which simply means it can’t see if something is leaking OUT of the pipe. It can only show what is going on INSIDE the pipe.

For practical evidence of this we invite you to visit www.plumbersnohomish.com.  Here, you can view a sewer cam video.  It isn’t pretty, but it should educate you on what may be needed under your Seattle area home.  If and when you need us, we are a phone call away.  Call Shawn at (425) 367-4744 before things get worse.

Oh Boy, It’s Sump Pump time.

Spring rains bring flooding conditions and you had better have the right sump pump in your castle.  Homes with basements and low water tables require sump pumps to discharge the water before it causes damage. Sump pumps remove excess water from any place that might collect water where you don't want it.

Pick a sump pump according to its base type. Sump pumps are available with pedestal mounts or are submersible.  Make sure you select a pump for the power needed to empty the area of water.  You will probably want to opt for a pump with a capacitive switch for hassle-free automatic operation.  Select a sump-pump with a vertical switch that mechanically turns the sump pump on or off automatically.

Those are just a few tips to help you along the way.  The best tip of all, is to choose the right person to install it.  In Snohomish, WA and the surrounding area that man is Shawn Allen, the owner of Allen Plumbing.  He has been a Seattle area sump pump installation expert for decades.  Give Shawn a call today at (425) 367-4744.

My Plumbing Wish List.

I think I speak for other plumbers across the country when I say, “I wish I were there to tell you what NOT to do before you had to call me”.  Plumbers from coast to coast will tell you that their area home owners make mistakes that end up costing them hundreds of dollars or more trying to fix their own plumbing.

Here are a few tips I would like to impart –

1.  Don’t automatically reach for the Drano.  Chemicals rarely do the job.
2.  Please don’t think of your toilet as a garbage can.
3.  Do not go searching for the main water valve.
4.  Stop with the drop-in tank toilet fresheners already.
5.  Your water heater is past its expiration date…just acknowledge it!

These and many other helpful plumbing tips might keep a major plumbing problem from occurring.  I just want you to know that I will be there when you need me.  I am Snohomish, WA area plumber Shawn Allen.  I have been here for decades and you can count on me in the future.  Just give me a call at (425) 367-4744.
