Hang on Mom and Dad…It’s Almost Over.

Yes, summer is winding down and the kids will be back in school in a month.  In the meantime, they may be pouring anything and everything down the sink and your garbage disposal is getting quite a workout.  Fixing a cranky garbage disposal by yourself may not only be an exercise in futility, but downright dangerous!

Here are some signs when you should be calling a plumber

1.  You turn it on, but there is no noise.  It may be shot.
2.  Water is leaking from the disposal.
3.  It is draining at a glacial pace.
4.  Something is blocking the flywheel.

There are others, but these are just some signs that it is time to call in a pro.  In Snohomish and the Seattle area that man is Shawn Allen of Allen Plumbing.  He will fix or replace your dying disposal quickly and efficiently…guaranteed.  Call Shawn.  He has decades of experience with Snohomish area plumbing problems.  His phone number is (425) 367-4744.

Make Way…There’s a Backflow Problem.

That can bring a household to a screeching halt!  There are two main causes of backflow in plumbing – back pressure and back siphonage.  Back pressure is defined as water being forced to flow in the opposite direction.  Back siphonage might be more complicated.  It occurs when the pressure in the water supply becomes smaller than the pressure in the plumbing system.

The most important thing is how is it prevented?  Here are some tips –

1.  Have a hose bib backflow preventer
2.  Have a vacuum breaker that constantly monitors water pressure in the system
3.  Something called a barometric loop shaped like an inverted U

Now, what about fixing the problem if it occurs.  That’s easy!  Call backflow expert Shawn Allen.  Shawn is the owner of Allen Plumbing here in Snohomish and he serves all of the Seattle area’s plumbing needs.  Visit www.plumbersnohomish.com for a list of all services, then give Shawn a call for whichever one you need at (425) 367-4744.

Drip, Drip, Drip.

The old commercial said it was the drip, drip, drip of stomach acid.  All of us who are home owners in the Seattle area know that the word could mean dripping from pipes in your home.  Dripping in and of itself may be innocuous in and of itself, but it sure can get out of control and cause big-time problems!

Here are some troubleshooting tips –

1.  Make sure that your toilet valve is NOT stuck.
2.  Inspect the area around the base of the water heater.
3.  Blow in a call to the water company to make sure that the meter is not the culprit.
4.  If you are able, shut off the water main within your home.

You certainly do not want to make hasty moves trying to fix the problem yourself.  Seattle area plumber Shawn Allen is almost certainly the answer.  Shawn serves Snohomish and the surrounding area in any and all plumbing emergencies.  Please don’t wait until things get out of hand!  Call Shawn at (425) 367-4744.
